Our Mission

Uplifting and supporting families and caregivers of people with disabilities so that their whole family can thrive.

Our Vision

Every person is valued and included in society.

Our Values and Beliefs

  • Children are more likely to pursue their own dreams when their parents model effective self-advocacy.
  • Parents can better advocate for their children when they have access to the knowledge and support of experienced families.
  • Families come in many forms – we deeply value the unique perspectives and lived experiences they bring.
  • A child’s future is brighter when families have professional allies that can provide wisdom, counsel, and support.
  • Families have an incredibly important role in establishing public policy and promoting public awareness about disability.

Our Work

We are families helping families navigate complex systems of care and connect with valuable resources. At the same time, we work to shape policies and programs that better support individuals with disabilities. Our deep understanding and compassion stem from shared lived experiences and a close connection to our community.

Our History

Encircle Families began in 1979 as a grass-roots effort of families, professionals, and community leaders determined to provide support and information for parents of children with disabilities and special health care needs.
