This PBS training is a total of eight hours; four hours each on two consecutive days.

This registration is for January 15 AND January 16 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM each day.

Encircle Families and the Division of Developmental Disabilities have partnered to create a new extended Positive Behavior Support training. PBS is evidence-based and promotes empathy, sensitivity, person-centered care, and inclusivity for members.

Why enroll in PBS training?

1. It identifies tools and resources for families and caregivers who support those with challenging behaviors and helps improve members’ quality of life.
2. Using the tools reduces challenging behaviors.
3. Using PBS supports stronger relationships and increases caregivers’ confidence to support individuals when they are struggling.

This training is offered to caregivers and families of members enrolled in DDD at no cost.

Learn about the legal options available for families of children with disabilities when their child turns 18 and becomes an adult. Discover how parents can remain involved in decision-making with schools, doctors, and other professionals, including options such as supported decision-making, power of attorney, and guardianship. Other topics covered include registering for the selective service and applying for Social Security benefits.

Learn what a 504 plan is, how to request one, and the difference between a 504 plan and an IEP (Individualized Education Program). This training will explain how to become eligible for a 504 plan, how the plan can be used, what is included, parent and student rights, and the options available if a disagreement arises.
