Director of Development
The Director of Development is responsible for leading and coordinating all fund development activities for Encircle Families. This role works in partnership with staff, leadership, and the Board of Directors to build and sustain philanthropic revenue through donor engagement, portfolio management, campaigns, grants, and events. The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director, and provides oversight, strategy, and accountability to ensure fundraising efforts are aligned, effective, and sustainable.
Specific Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate philanthropic activities across the organization.
- Develop and manage a comprehensive annual fundraising plan, including revenue goals and performance tracking.
- Cultivate, engage, and steward relationships with active, lapsed, and prospective corporate, foundation, and individual donors.
- Coordinate donor strategy and engagement with board members and support them in fundraising conversations.
- Guide the use of systems for tracking donor activity, engagement, and revenue in the CRM.
- Lead strategy and guide execution of annual campaigns, including tax credit and other fundraising efforts.
- Oversee fundraising events, including sponsorship strategy, revenue performance, and follow-up.
- Ensure conversion of event and campaign participants into long-term supporters.
- Oversee corporate and foundation grants program, including coordination with contracted grant writer.
- Provide regular updates and reports to leadership and the Board of Directors on fundraising performance.
- Collaborate across teams to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities and mission impact.
- Work across internal teams to align and support execution of fundraising strategies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or related field.
- Demonstrated ability to manage donor relationships and fundraising initiatives.
- Experience working with or supporting a Board of Directors.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to analyze data and use it to inform strategy and decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfort managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Professional presence and ability to represent the organization with donors and partners.
- Flexibility to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
- Parent or family member of a child with a disability preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience supporting or overseeing fundraising events preferred.
Salary Range
$90,000 – $100,000 annually, depending on experience.
