Event Basics
When and where is Lumina being held?
Lumina will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Arizona Science Center 600 E. Washington St., Phoenix, AZ 85004 [map]
What time should staff/volunteers arrive?
The Arizona Science Center is allowing us to begin set up at 4 p.m. Enter by the main entrance and check in with Wendi upon arrival. Please allow extra time for arrival, parking. PLEASE NOTE: Phoenix Fan Fusion will also be taking place downtown June 5–7 at the Phoenix Convention Center, and more than 100,000 visitors are expected throughout the weekend. Downtown Phoenix is likely to be very busy, and nearby parking may fill quickly.
What time do guests arrive?
VIP guests check-in begins at 5 p.m. General admission guest check-in begins at 6 p.m.
What is the evening schedule?
VIP doors open at 5 p.m. VIP guests will enjoy a signature cocktail/mocktail and then be guided to the Dorrance DOME where at 5:15 they will watch the Pop Art presentation.
General admission guest check-opens at 6 p.m. At the completion of the DOME presentation VIP guests will join the rest of the guests in the lobby where they will enjoy music, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Opening remarks will begin at 6:30 p.m. Following the remarks, guests will be invited to engage with featured artists, collect stickers for their Passport, explore artwork, enjoy live demonstrations and participate in the Experience Drawing.
Experience Drawing and Passport Drawing entries must be in by 8:10
Closing remarks begin at 8:30 and the winners of the Passport Drawing and Experience Drawing will be announced directly after.
The event ends at 9 p.m and clean up and break down take place until 10 p.m.
Parking and Arrival
Where should staff/volunteers park?
Parking is available in the Heritage Square Parking Garage, where 150 complimentary parking spaces have been reserved for Lumina. Because parking may be limited and downtown will be busy, staff and volunteers are encouraged to carpool, use rideshare or take light rail whenever possible.
If you park in the Heritage Square Parking Garage, please bring your parking ticket with you to check-in and ask an Encircle Families staff member for a validation sticker. Parking in any other garage or location will be at your own expense. [Map to Heritage Square Parking Garage]
Should guests plan extra time for parking?

What if I arrive via rideshare or Light Rail?
The Arizona Science Center, located at 600 E. Washington St. in downtown Phoenix, is easily accessible via the Valley Metro Light Rail (3rd St/Washington or 3rd St/Jefferson stations) and via rideshare (Uber/Lyft/Waymo) with a dedicated drop-off area on 5th Street
Where do I check in?
Volunteers should check in with Wendi Scharnhorst at the Arizona Science Center main entrance beginning at 4 p.m. She will direct you to your station. You will have received instructions from Maureen on your specific assignment the week prior.
Accessibility
Is the event accessible?
Encircle Families wants guests, artists and volunteers to be able to participate comfortably. Staff and volunteers will be available to help with directions and accessibility needs during the evening.
What if I need assistance during the evening?
Please let an Encircle Families staff member or volunteer know if you need assistance with directions, seating, accessibility or any other event-related need.
Artist Experience
When will guests be able to meet the artists?
The artist area is expected to open after remarks, around 6:45 p.m. Guests will be invited to visit each artist, learn more about their work, collect Passport stickers, watch live demonstrations and purchase artwork.
Can staff/volunteers purchase artwork?
Staff and volunteers are welcome to purchase artwork at Lumina. We simply ask that guest purchases take priority throughout the evening. If an artist is actively assisting guests or discussing their work with attendees, please allow those interactions and sales to take precedence before making personal purchases. Thank you for helping us create a welcoming and successful experience for both our artists and guests.
What if I purchase artwork but do not want to carry it during the evening?
If you are unable to take the artwork with you at the time of purchase, the artist may offer the courtesy of holding the piece at their display area until the end of the evening. There will not be a communal pickup area for sold art.
Passport and Experience Drawing
What is the Passport?
Upon check-in, each guest will receive a Passport that encourages them to visit each featured artist. Each artist will have a unique sticker to place in the Passport when guests stop by their station.
How do guests enter the Passport Drawing?
Guests visit each artist and collect all Passport stickers. Once their Passport is complete, they submit it in the collection box located at the Experience Drawing table for a chance to win a bespoke Brunch & Bookmaking Experience with artist Linda Harrison-Parsons. Winners will be announced at approximately 8:30 p.m.
What is the Experience Drawing?
The Experience Drawing is a fun way for guests to participate in the evening and support Encircle Families. Guests can use tickets to enter for the artwork and experiences they are interested in winning.
Do staff/volunteers receive an Experience Drawing ticket?
Only guests with paid tickets are provided a ticket for the Experience Drawing. Tickets will be available for purchase during the event. 1 for $10 | 6 for $50 | 15 for $100 | 35 for $200

What should staff/volunteers guests wear?
Event attire is cocktail or creative cocktail. We invite you to dress in a way that feels festive, comfortable and true to the spirit of the evening. Please keep in mind that some roles may involve standing, walking, or helping with setup and cleanup, so comfortable shoes are encouraged.
What time does the event end?
Closing remarks will take place at 8:30 p.m. in the lobby. The event ends at 9 p.m. Staff/volunteers have until 10 p.m. to clean up/break down and vacate the building
