The Arizona Department of Education, Exceptional Student Services (ADE/ESS), recently released a statement regarding recent announcements about reductions in force within the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs.
Families should know that there have been no changes to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) for special education students. Public schools are still required to uphold federal and state special education requirements.
Nationally, petitions requesting that Congress and the Administration take action have already gathered more than 3,000 signatures. You can access one such petition here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf3gai86jUQc2nxBXqiu7MzC-NimZut_mReV3xW6_xX-Ye7QQ/viewform.
