What Is the Refugee & Asylee Mentorship Program?
At Encircle Families, we recognize the unique challenges refugee and asylee families face when raising a child with a disability. Our Refugee & Asylee Mentorship Program (RAMP) provides culturally responsive support, ensuring families have the information and tools they need to understand their child’s needs, collaborate with professionals, and advocate effectively for their child’s education and health care. RAMP also helps decrease social isolation by fostering meaningful parent-to-parent connections, offering guidance, encouragement, and a supportive community.
How It Works
Families referred to RAMP receive:
- A Rapid Response: A Family Support Specialist contacts the family by the next business day in their preferred language with the help of professional interpreters.
- Personalized Support & Guidance: Assistance in navigating education and health care systems, as well as access to direct parent-to-parent support.
- Ongoing Connection: Families receive continued support as their needs evolve, ensuring they never feel alone on their journey.
- Case Manager Collaboration: Referring case managers receive confirmation once the family has been contacted and can count on Encircle Families to provide continued assistance.

Who Can Enroll?
Families can be referred to RAMP by their case manager using our referral form. Once a referral is received, our team promptly connects with the family to begin offering support.
For additional resources, Encircle Families partners with the Sonoran Center for Excellence in Disabilities at the University of Arizona, which provides resource guides in seven languages to help refugee parents navigate the U.S. disability system.
